Does TestHike require IT to install software across a computer lab?
No. Candidates and students install the free TestHike desktop app themselves — it doesn't require kernel-level access or a managed lab-wide deployment, though IT can pre-approve the installer in locked-down environments if needed.
Can TestHike proctor a live, timed exam for an entire class at once?
Yes. Every student receives an invite code for the same assessment window, completes it in their own TestHike desktop session, and results are graded and available in the dashboard as submissions come in.
How are programming exams graded?
Coding questions are graded automatically against test cases. Multiple-choice questions are graded automatically. Written or short-answer questions are graded manually by faculty inside the dashboard, then folded into the final weighted score.
Can students practice with the platform before a real exam?
Yes. Universities can offer a mock assessment first, which shows correct answers immediately and doesn't use the desktop security controls — just a chance to get comfortable with the app before it counts.
What information does TestHike collect from students during an exam?
For real, scored assessments, TestHike can record configurable activity information — focus changes, clipboard use, connected displays, and running processes — set per assessment. Mock assessments don't use this feature at all. See the Privacy page for full detail.
Does this replace our learning management system?
No. TestHike handles the coding assessment and lab-test portion specifically. It's typically used alongside an existing LMS, not as a replacement for it.
